This month join us to hear Wenqing Perner of Hengduan Mountains Biotechnology Ltd. speak via Zoom about Chinese Orchids and their cultivation.

Join us for our last meeting of the 2025-26 season on May 24 at 2:00 pm to hear Wenqing Perner of Hengduan Mountains Biotechnology Ltd. speak via Zoom on Orchids in China and their cultivation in the West: Exemplary species of Cymbidium, Cypripedium and Paphiopedilum in China in the wild, and their cultivation abroad.  She is an excellent speaker and an authority on Chinese species and their culture.  Each year she gives a tour in China highlighting conservation efforts.

Wenqing works for Huanglong National Park as senior advisor for nature conservation.  She is also an IUCN SSC Orchid Specialist Group expert and IUCN SSC China Species Specialist Group expert.  Together with her late husband Dr. Holger Perner,they established Hengduan Mountains Biotechnology Ltd. The company is mainly engaged in the propagation of Paphiopedilum and Cypripedium, and exports their products to Europe, America, Canada, Japan, Australia and other countries. It is the only commercial nursery that can export App. I Paphiopedilum from China. The meeting will be a hybrid meeting. Our in-person meeting is in Hall F at Nepean Sportsplex. This month we will celebrate the success of our members at Orchidophilia 2026 and the help of our volunteers.  There will be the volunteer draw for 5 free 2026-2027 memberships.  We will have the usual Show Table, raffle and refreshments (including the annual volunteer cake)  with a break to chat with our "Ask Me Anything" experts.  Members, please bring your plants to the show table by 1:40 pm to allow time for judging.
