Thomas Mirenda, former chair of the AOS Conservation Committee, world orchid traveller and AOS ambassador is our October speaker. He will take us on an exciting adventure to discover the wild orchids of Australia in their natural habitats. Tom has a passion not only for orchid conservation, but also for preservation of rapidly changing habitats threatened by expanding human populations and climate change. In this lecture Tom covers some of the fascinating habitats of the Australian continent and gives us a good picture of not only the orchids one can find there but also some of the other rare and endemic and sometimes bizarre species of plants that inhabit this strange land.
Tom will join us via Zoom from Hawaii. This is a hybrid meeting. Watch for the email to register for the Zoom meeting. We will have the usual Show Table. Members, please bring you blooming orchids to the table by 1:40 pm. There will be refreshments and the monthly raffle for our in-person guests. If you are feeling unwell, please join us via Zoom.
